Detroit at home for final matchup with Indianapolis this season

July 22, 2021

The Detroit Mechanix return to Grand Rapids Christian High School this Saturday, July 24 at 6:00 PM/ET. They’ll take on the Indianapolis AlleyCats for the third time this season, first time at home.

Saturday marks the first home game for the Mechanix in over a month—they’ll play four of their five remaining games this season at home. The home field advantage bodes well for a team still searching for their first win in over 1,500 days, dating back to the 2017 season; they’ve now lost 45 straight games, a streak that may have its best chance at coming to an end this Saturday.

While the Mechanix have lost their two meetings with the AlleyCats this year by an average of 10.5 goals, the 2-5 AlleyCats sit in fourth place in the division and are expected to be missing some top players this week, as reported by Evan Lepler in this week’s Tuesday Toss. The Mechanix played the AlleyCats to two four-goal games to start the 2019 season and will have extra motivation playing in front of their home crowd this week. Unlike Indianapolis, Detroit is expected to have their top two players: Joe Cubitt and Andrew Sjogren. Cubitt ranks top 10 in the league in throwing yards and completions, while Sjogren leads the entire league in receiving yards.

Tickets for this game are available at the official team store.
