April 15, 2020
With the suspension of the 2020 American Ultimate Disc League season, the Minnesota Wind Chill regret to announce the official postponement of their April 18 game set to be played in Winnipeg, MB.
While there is still hope for an abbreviated 2020 AUDL season that would kick off early this summer, the proposed format will no longer feature cross-division play. Prioritizing the health and well-being of fans, players, and staff is of critical importance. When the league is able to resume play, it will be done in a way that is safe for everyone involved.
The team does plan to play in Winnipeg next season. The game has been tentatively rescheduled for April 17, 2021 at Winnipeg North Soccer Complex.
Wind Chill General Manager Ben Feldman commented: "While we are saddened to not be able to host a game this year in Winnipeg due current circumstances with COVID-19, we are so thankful for the incredible amount of support we received from the Winnipeg community."
"Our organization and our players are looking forward to having our season kick-off in Winnipeg next April, and we know another 12 months of build up can only make it that much more special when it happens."
With an expected sell-out, anyone who purchased a ticket to the game is encouraged to hold on to their ticket, as it will be valid for the rescheduled game in 2021. Order numbers and names will be retained on file for will call pickup on game day. The pre-sold tickets for the event help ensure the financial sustainability of the Wind Chill organization being able to bring the game back to Winnipeg next year.
Refunds will be granted upon request. To request a refund, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The AUDL and Wind Chill will continue to keep fans updated as the current situation progresses.
