The Chicago Union will be facing off against the Minnesota Wind Chill for the title of Central Division Champions on Sunday, August 29, at five o’ clock in the evening at De La Salle Institute in Chicago, Illinois.
Both teams are looking for their first title in the division. From 2013 - 2018, the Madison Radicals claimed the crown until 2019 when the Indianapolis Alley Cats snatched it from them. This year a new champion will be crowned and will punch their ticket to Championship Weekend.
The Chicago Union do not have a postseason track record to boast about but they do enter this weekend with a five-game win streak and a head-to-head record of 2-1 against the Wind Chill. During their last scrappy and windy matchup, the Union claimed a 20-16 win over the Minnesota Wind Chill.
“The key will definitely be our focused intensity. We want to come out hard and get on top quickly, and then continue to dominate with our precision. Peter Graffy, Nate Goff, Drew Swanson, Paul Arters, Pawel Janas, myself, and so many big names on the team this year will be big factors for our upcoming game. I don’t think Minnesota has enough players to guard all of us, but I say that with the utmost respect towards them. I will be giving it my 100 percent (as I always do) knowing my teammates will do the same, and together, we can be victorious,” said Captain Ross Barker.
The Chicago Union look to get their first ever postseason win this weekend and advance to Championship Weekend 10 -- the AUDL’s final four-style event--being held at Audi Field in Washington, DC on September 10-11.
