After more than 600 days without playing a game, the San Jose Spiders will return to the field this summer. The 2021 AUDL schedule has officially been announced; the Spiders will play a 12-game regular season from June to August, with the potential for playoff games in September. Spiders home opener will be played Saturday, June 12 at Oakland Tech High School against the Seattle Cascades.
The Spiders enter the 2021 season playing in the new West Division, where they’ll match up with Austin, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Seattle throughout the season. The team is looking to get back on track after a disappointing 2019 season, failing to make the playoffs for the second straight season.
The Spiders made noise this offseason signing and re-signing several impact players to build an exciting, youth-driven roster. Returning to the team is 2019 Spiders MVP Keenan Laurence, who will look to build on an impressive rookie campaign that earned him All-AUDL Rookie First Team honors. Joining the Spiders for his rookie year is BYU product Jordan Kerr, who was named Ultiworld’s 2020 D-1 Men’s Player of the Year. The roster is rounded out by one of the oldest rookies in AUDL history, Satoru Ishii from Japan. Ishii is a legendary member of the Buzz Bullets, the elite Japanese club team. He had tried out for several different West Division teams in previous seasons, but this is his first year making an AUDL roster—he will make his AUDL debut in 2021.
Season and single-game tickets can now be purchased in the Spiders online store.
