PHILADELPHIA — Mike Arcata signed to the Philadelphia Phoenix 2020 roster for his fourth consecutive year with the team. Arcata’s signing does not come as a surprise, as he has been a consistent support for the Phoenix, working both on and off the field for several years. He served as the Phoenix’s General Manager from 2018 through 2019, until his recent promotion to Director of Operations in November. Arcata juggles his dual roles comfortably, being able to navigate the franchise through the AUDL season while focusing on his role as a player. “I’m incredibly excited for 2020 and competing in the new Atlantic division with the fresh challenges it brings,” said Arcata. “I’ll miss competing against some of our old East rivals, but it’s great that we’ll be able to match up against opponents like Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay and develop new rivalries for our fans.”
On the field Arcata is an intense and supportive teammate, who makes explosive plays on both sides of the disc. His big vertical and superior speed have helped land him in the Phoenix’s top three rankings in goals, assists and points played categories consecutively for the past two seasons. General Manager, Jeff George said, “Arcata is arguably the most versatile player on the team and he happily takes on any role or assignment. He excels at both offense and defense, but the team feeds on his lethal cutting ability. Arcata’s quiet, but he’s a natural born killer. Somehow he flies under the radar in the league, but there’s a reason why he was voted the Most Underrated Player by the East Division coaches last year.” Phoenix fans are sure to see more exciting plays from Arcata in the coming season.
The Philadelphia Phoenix host their 2020 Open Combine on Sunday, January 12, 6-10pm at the Penn Park bubble. Find full info and registration here.
