Phoenix Sign Eric Nardelli

December 30, 2019

PHILADELPHIA — Returning for his sixth straight season, the Phoenix signed defensive leader Eric Nardelli to the 2020 roster. A captain for the past two seasons, he lead the team’s defense in both blocks (10) and defensive points played (135) in 2019. “Nardelli plays with a fearless and confident style. He anchors the defense and entrusts his teammates to make plays. As a captain for the Phoenix, he is a true leader for our defense and the team. He brings experience, attitude and highlight-worthy plays,” said General Manager, Jeff George.

As the longest-tenured Phoenix player, the blend of experience and skill makes Nardelli stand out as a dominant downfield defender in the AUDL. He combines speed, strength and athleticism with his 6-foot frame to stifle opposing cutters. Looking ahead to 2020, Nardelli said, “I am eager to see where our new owners can take us — they’re really putting in a ton of effort and that motivates me as a player and makes me feel like a valued member of the team. Also, I am particularly eager to play Raleigh and Pittsburgh this year. Since both made the playoffs last season they will be a good test for how we measure up in the new Atlantic Division.”

The Philadelphia Phoenix host their 2020 Open Combine on Sunday, January 12th, 6-10pm at the Penn Park bubble. Find full info and registration here.
