The AUDL announced the Canada Cup format at the beginning of June, a solution to allow the Canadian teams to play games in spite of travel restrictions at the US-Canada border. Between the Toronto Rush, Ottawa Outlaws, and Montreal Royal, many expected the Outlaws to be at the bottom of the division considering they’ve won a total of eight games over the last three seasons. But the Outlaws proved doubters wrong in the opening weekend, winning each of their first two games against the Toronto Rush on Saturday and Montreal Royal on Sunday.
Ottawa converted on 90 percent of their offensive points between the two games, looking like an entirely different team than the league has seen in years past. Outlaws veteran Nick Boucher immediately set the AUDL single-game yardage record with over 1,200 in his 2021 debut. The team scored 26-plus points in each game; no other team in the league has reached that level of consistency in a back-to-back double header this season.
Tickets for this game are available at the official team store.
