Coming off their best year to date, the Indianapolis AlleyCats made their biggest offseason move in franchise history, signing 2015 First Team All-AUDL handler Brett Matzuka for the 2019 season. Matzuka has five years of pro experience with the DC Breeze, Chicago Wildfire, and most recently the Raleigh Flyers. Matzuka is currently 12th all-time in completions with 1885 (95.20%) in 46 career regular season and playoff appearances.
Matzuka set the AUDL single-game completions record on June 28, 2015 when he threw 113 for the Chicago Wildfire. He has averaged nearly 41 completions per game for his career, placing him tenth all-time among qualified players.
Indianapolis finished second in the Midwest Division in 2018 with an 11-3 regular season record. Matzuka will join all-time AUDL goals leader Cam Brock, Keenan Plew, Travis Carpenter, and 2018 All-AUDL First Team member Rick Gross as the AlleyCats look for their first division title in franchise history.
