The Atlanta Hustle got a big win in their home opener, defeating the Indianapolis Alley Cats by a score of 23-14. This marked the first win for Tuba Benson-Jaja as head coach of the Hustle. The team brought the energy from the jump, playing very aggressively on defense forcing turnovers and scoring goals. Every time the Hustle scored, the bench came out and celebrated, showing signs of the strong team culture Coach Tuba has built. They opened with a 7-3 lead after the first quarter and did not look back, building on that lead as the game went on.
Matt Smith led the Hustle on offense with 5 goals scored, while Brett Hulsmeyer had a huge game on defense leading with 6 of the Hustle’s 14 blocks in the game. When Hulsmeyer was on the field, the Hustle outscored the Alley Cats 14-5. The O-line was very impressive, with Bobby Ley throwing 5 assists and Austin Taylor finishing with 0 turnovers. The Hustle defense forced 18 turnovers with great zone coverage and pressure on the Indianapolis handlers.
