About the Minnesota Wind Chill

HistoryTeam Records

The Wind Chill are the professional ultimate team based out of Minnesota. The Wind Chill are heading into their 11th season in the Ultimate Frisbee Association (UFA)™ in 2024, coming off a 10-2 regular season record in 2023, winning their first ever Central Division title. The team qualified for their first ever Championship Weekend (Final Four) in August 2023, losing in the semi-finals to the Salt Lake Shred in OT by a score of 18-19 at TCO Stadium in Eagan, MN. They have qualified for the playoffs in six of the last seven seasons.

After serving as the title sponsor in 2017, Omar Ansari, owner and founder of Surly Brewing Company, purchased the Minnesota Wind Chill in August of 2017 and is now the majority owner of the franchise. The new ownership group also includes Ben Feldman, who played on the team for several seasons and now serves as both General Manager and Head Coach.

The team competes in a 12-game regular season and hosts their home games at Sea Foam Stadium in Saint Paul, which was renovated with state of the art turf in May 2019. See directions here.

The Wind Chill play in the Central Division (formerly called the Midwest Division) along with:

Chicago Union
Detroit Mechanix
Indianapolis AlleyCats
Madison Radicals
Pittsburgh Thunderbirds

The Wind Chill are starting to get noticed more and more in the local community, including recognition and opportunities from other local professional teams. On July 22nd, 2017, the Wind Chill faced off against a group of Minnesota College All Stars at half-time of the Minnesota United FC game at TCF Bank Stadium. Since then, they have performed at half-time for the Minnesota Vikings for four consecutive season (excluding 2020 season due to no fans), most recently on January 9th, 2022, during the Vikings vs. Bears game at US Bank Stadium.
