Sam began playing in 6th grade for the Northwest School in Seattle, Washington. He continued playing for NWS in high school where they went on to win 3 state championships with a record of roughly 111-1 in those three years. Sam began his pro career with the Seattle Cascades where he played his first game on his 18th birthday and has played nearly every season since then, picking up with the aviators in 2021.
