July 1, 2021
The Tampa Bay Cannons will play their third home game of the season this Saturday, July 3 at 6:05 PM/ET at Campbell Park. They'll take on the Raleigh Flyers for the first time this season.
The Cannons went 0-3 against the Flyers in 2019, but had two games where they lost by two goals or fewer. They played the regular season division champions as competitively as any other team, and this year the Flyers have been beatable; they currently hold a 2-2 record and are tied for fourth place in the Atlantic Division. The Cannons will look to pull off the upset this week in front of the home crowd.
Currently sitting at 1-5 in seventh place in the Atlantic, the Cannons’ lone win this season came against the winless Pittsburgh Thunderbirds in Week 2. Aside from that game, they’ve played one of the toughest schedules in the division thus far, having already been pitted against the top three teams in the Atlantic—including two undefeated teams—through the first four weeks of the season. This year the eight-team division yields four playoff spots; the Cannons hope to regain momentum and disrupt the playoff picture as they begin the second half of their season.
